GREAT FALLS –
The Montana Public Service Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved the final version of regulations to allow ride-sharing companies to operate in Montana.
The rules implement Senate Bill 396, which the Montana Legislature approved several months ago.
The approval clears the way for ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft to apply for licenses to operate in Montana.
The apps are designed to let people schedule a pickup from a ride-sharing company by using their cellphone.
The final rules create a new regulatory designation to operate under a Class-E license.
